“Knowing is not enough, we must APPLY. Willing is not enough, we must DO.” – Bruce Lee
My cousin, Josh Kaufman appeared on The Voice last week. If The Voice is foreign to you, it’s a reality show on NBC where contestants sing to four judges who have their chairs turned away so they can’t actually see who is singing. If they like what they hear, they turn their chair around.
All four judges turned around for Josh, the only four-chair turn of the night. One of the judges, Adam Levine from Maroon 5, turned his chair around in less than 5 seconds after hearing Josh sing. He stood up and started pumping his fist in excitement and said “That was goose bumps man…that was unbelievable!”
Josh completely crushed it with George Michael’s song “One More Try”. Check it out –
His life will probably never be the same. After this type of National notoriety, singing in dingy bars and small-scale restaurants is a thing of the past.
Josh is 37 years old and could have easily said “I’m not waiting in the try-out line for 5 hours”, or “I’m too old” or” I just need to focus on a real job.” He’s even made an attempt at this before on a show from the 90s called Star Search. Here’s his performance –
But he didn’t settle and he didn’t give up on his dream. Instead, he took action.
So many people accept average and just deal with it. Whether it’s a job they hate, a relationship that makes them miserable, or an unhealthy lifestyle. They accept it rather than make a change, usually in fear of what might happen. When the reality is, if they took action, the outcome would be positive.
When you take action, the door of opportunity opens. The more action you take, the more opportunities will be there for your taking.
If you just look around, there is unlimited action you can take that will move you forward. It’s right in front of your face; you just have to open your eyes.
Be sure to check him out this Monday. He has an unbelievable voice and story. And if you like his version of “One More Try”, you can download it on iTunes.
TAKEAWAY: Take action. Don’t settle.
DO IT NOW: Take that one action you have been hesitant to take, watch The Voice tonight and vote for Josh.
QUESTION: What have you given up on or settled for that you should revisit and take action on?

No singer has ever gave me as Adam said, “goosebumps” as Josh has. This man has an amazing voice, heart and determination to achieve his dream. Rooting for Josh all the way and hope America sees what this man is capable of and does the right thing of voting for him.

He really does have a great voice, Horacio. Did you watch his battle performance?
Horacio says
Of course. I will watch the voice mainly to see him win. But yes, as far as the battle rounds WOW AGAIN! Very energetic impressive show. Austin had no chance from the get go but it was fun to watch him try. Josh has clearly made a name for himself early in the game and will only continue to drive forward with his amazing talent and passion. Josh all the way !!! On a side note, I think going back to his audition it would be nice if he would sing “tonight” by Elton John but the George Michaels version. Truly a song to captivate the audience even more.

“Tonight” is a great idea! I’m sure he’ll go really far in this competition. Thanks for the comments, Horacio!

Wow. What an amazing performance yet again. First one to top 10. Josh was the only singer to captivate America I think. Everyone else is just mediocre. Still rooting for Josh all the way! You gotta win this!!

I know. He made it to #2 on the iTunes charts. I really love the new song, Stay with Me.
